When asking James about his recollections of Vietnam war Era he says “My first assignment after boot camp was to Patrol Squadron 31 naval air station Moffett Field, California. I worked in the squadron until making Third Class and then went to Temporary Assignment Duty (TAD) to base supply. Moffett was home to the P-3 aircraft -they were sub-hunters. After two years, I received orders to Da Hang, Vietnam. There were around 100 personnel in our unit. Our job was to help support fleet carriers with parts for planes as well for planes that stopped at the hanger. I did order and follow ups on the order ever three days. I also helped keep inventory. When I came back to the world, I received my separation. I very much enjoyed my service time even though it was not a popular time to be in the military.”
