Glen Brown was Born November 17, 1956 to Robert and Joyce (Bowers) Brown. He was Raised in Grand Island, NE, attended Jefferson Elementary School, Walnut Junior High and Grand Island Senior High graduating in 1975. Was very active in the all the different baseball leagues and varsity team member of the Coach Rod Shada’s GISH 1974 State Wrestling Championship Team wrestling 105lbs.
After Graduating joined the Army Rangers with his Classmates- Dan Glover, Greg Houselog, Fred Hotz and Bob Kilpatrick. Served in the Army Rangers from 1975 through 1979 active duty in Fort Riley Washington. Returned to Nebraska and served in the Nebraska National Guard from 1979-1981 and 1995-2002 Columbus Unit.
Worked at Douglas-Lomason in Columbus for 11 years and retired from Becton Dickinson-Columbus with over 21 years of service, Glen and his children ran the concession stand during Columbus racing season for many years.
Glen was the Youth Wrestling Director for the Columbus YMCA and he also coached both girls’ softball and boys’ baseball for 11 years. In 1998 he was awarded the YMCA Columbus Volunteer of the Year and in 1999 he was the Columbus United Way Volunteer of the Year. Glen was a member of St. Anthony Church in Columbus.
Glen passed away March 14, 2016. He is survived by Daughter-Samantha Brown of Fremont, Son-Cody Brown and Partner Cory of Rapid City.SD. Brother- Douglas (Terry) Brown of Grand Island, NE, Sister Lisa Mullally (Bob) of Columbus, NE, 6- Grandchildren.
