Pvt. Noah Boye was born January 14th, 1983 to his parents Brett & Diana (Barela) Boye. He was a 2001 graduate of Grand Island Senior High School and joined the Marine Corps after graduation on July 1st, 2001. He served in Iraq for four months in 2003 as part of the first American forces in the region. After home leave he returned to Iraq in March. Noah served 2 tours in Iraq. His personal awards included the Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment ribbon. Noah’s family was presented with his Purple Heart after his passing.
Noah will be remembered for his distinctive smile, a big husky laugh, and the way he touched people’s lives. In his barracks he would play his guitar and sing. Noah was never resentful about being in Iraq and was proud to serve his country. He is described as a genuine person and a gentle young man.
Noah passed away April 13th, 2004 at the age of 21 in Iraq from wounds suffered in a firefight.
