Danny was born in January during the blizzard of 1949 in Northeastern Nebraska. He was raised on a farm in Center, NE. He graduated from Creighton High School in 1967. He entered the volunteer draft on October 22nd, 1968. Basic training and advanced Infantry training were at Fort Lewis, Washington. Danny was then off to Vietnam, he joined the Alert Company 4th Division 39th of the 9th Infantry Division Hardcore Recon in the Delta region on the March 31st, 1969. Danny was sergeant E-5 in September of 1969.
During Danny’s time in the U.S. Army, he received many medals such as; an Army commendation medal, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, purple heart, and a bronze star.
Danny Returned back to the U.S.A. on May 26th, 1970. His total time in Vietnam was 1 year 7 months and 5 days. He received an honorable discharge and returned home to Center, NE.
In September of 1974 Danny moved to Grand Island, NE. He worked for Chief Construction for 38 years. He is married and has 2 sons, 1 daughter-in-law, and 6 grandkids.
Danny served as the VFW Commander of Post 1347 for 3 years.
